前橋国際芸術祭ボランティアチーム「THE BRICK CLUB（ザ・ブリック・クラブ）」発足

前橋国際芸術祭をアーティストと“ともにつくる”市民・学生によるボランティア組織「THE BRICK CLUB（ザ・ブリック・クラブ）」が発足しました。
10年前、「めぶく。Where good things grow.」が中心市街地の街づくりビジョンとして策定された前橋。その後の開発工事では、キーマテリアルとして「赤煉瓦」が常に使用されてきました。すでに馬場川通りでは赤煉瓦の舗装が完了していますが、今後、この敷き直しは再開発エリアの拡がりとともに延長していきます。
「THE BRICK CLUB（ザ・ブリック・クラブ）」とは、「（赤）煉瓦クラブ」の意味。 これからも続く中心市街地の再生、そして生まれたばかりの芸術祭の定着化を目指し、その象徴としての「煉瓦 / BRICK」を、この挑戦に社会貢献の観点からご参画くださる皆さまと一つひとつ、着実に積み上げていきます。

THE BRICK CLUB has been launched! This new volunteer organization brings citizens and students together with participating artists to help build the Maebashi biennale. Ten years ago, Mebuku—’Where good things grow’—was formulated as the vision for the revitalization of Maebashi’s central urban district. Since then, red brick has been used as a key material in subsequent redevelopment projects. While red brick paving has already been completed along Babakkawa Street, paving work will continue as the area continues to be developed. THE BRICK CLUB takes its name from the red brick material central to the city’s transformation. With the aim of continuing the revitalization of the city center and establishing the newly launched art festival as a fixture of the community, we are steadily stacking “bricks” as a symbol of this endeavor—one by one, together with all who wish to take on this challenge and help make a social contribution at the same time.
