前橋市中心市街地に拠点を構えるBentena SHOPと、群馬と東京を拠点に活動する建築設計事務所SNARK Inc.による《SITE PORTAL（サイトポータル）》は、まちの“普段の顔”や“使い方”を大胆に変容させる象徴的な入口〈PORTAL〉を、前橋各地にパラサイト的に出現させるプロジェクト。路地や公園、空き地、空き家など日常的な空間に設置された入口をくぐることで、その場所の機能や用途が変化し、都市が拡張されていくような体験を創出します。
VHSテープを素材にしたパフォーマンスを行うVIDEOTAPEMSUICを招く2日間の野外音楽イベント”Save Walk Parking”の会場は、立体駐車場の屋上。再開発で変わりゆく中心市街地と、遠くにそびえる赤城山を眺められる特別な空間です。ライブでは、前橋とその周辺で撮影されたホームビデオの映像と音をビルの壁面に投影し、歴史に残らない個人の記録のもつ意味を感じ・語り合う時間を生み出します。

As a collaboration between Bentena SHOP based in Maebashi’s central district, and SNARK Inc., an architectural office based and active in Gunma and Tokyo, presents SITE PORTAL is a project to create symbolic “portals” that dramatically alter the city’s everyday look and use. Installed parasitically to everyday structures in alleyways, parks, vacant lots, and empty houses throughout Maebashi, these portals invite visitors to step through and experience a shift in the function or use of the space, making it feel as if the city is expanding.
“Save Walk Parking” is a two-day outdoor music event featuring VIDEOTAPEMUSIC, known for performances using VHS tapes. The event takes place on the rooftop of a multi-story parking structure, a unique setting overlooking Maebashi’s changing city center as it undergoes redevelopment, with Mount Akagi rising in the distance. During the live performance, images and sounds from home videos filmed in and around Maebashi will be projected onto the wall of a building, creating an opportunity to reflect on and discuss the significance of personal records that may never become part of official history.

ミュージシャンであり、映像作家。 VHSの映像とピアニカを使ったライブパフ ォーマンスをするほか、映像ディレクターとしても数々のミュージシャンのMVやVJ なども手掛ける。 近年では日本国内の様々な土地でフィールドワークを行いながらの作品制作や、個人宅に眠るプライベートなホームビデオのみを用いたプロジェクト「湖底」名義で のパフォーマンスも行っている。2015年の2ndアルバム『世界各国の夜』以降、カクバリズムから音源作品リリース をするほか、国内外のレーベルからも多数の作品をリリースしている。日本各地で 行ってきた滞在制作の記録をカセットテープと160Pの書籍にまとめたカセットブッ ク作品『Revisit』を2024年6月にリリースした。

VIDEOTAPEMUSIC
VIDEOTAPEMUSIC is a musician and visual artist. In addition to live performances using VHS footage and the pianica, he works as a video director, creating music videos and VJ visuals for numerous musicians. In recent years, he has developed works through fieldwork in various locations across Japan and has also performed under the project name “Kotei,” using exclusively private home videos found in people’s homes. Since the release of his second album, Sekai Kakkoku no Yoru, in 2015, he has released recordings through KAKUBARHYTHM, as well as numerous works through labels in Japan and abroad. In June 2024, he released Revisit, a cassette-book work consisting of a cassette tape and a 160-page book documenting his artist residencies throughout Japan.
