オーストリア・リンツ市の〈Ars Electronica〉など国際舞台で活躍するクリエイティブコーダー・田所淳が呼び掛け人となり、オーディオとビジュアルが融合するパフォーマンスやミュージシャンを国内外から招聘するライブプログラムを、無線LANルーターや外付けHDDで国内トップシェアを誇るBUFFALO社のサポートにより開催します。会場は長らく空きビルだった銀座通りの通称〈グーチョキパービル〉。電子音楽×没入型アートを再開発エリアにインストールし、かつてこの街区にあったクラブカルチャーの再生を試みるプロジェクトです。

「アルゴレイヴ（Algorave）」とは、アルゴリズム（Algorithm）とレイヴ（Rave）を組み合わせた、ライブエレクトロニクスとコンピューター音楽における最先端の音楽シーンのこと。ミュージシャンがプログラミングコードをリアルタイムで記述しアルゴリズムを用いて演奏する「Algorave」を。田所淳のキュレーションにより前橋で初開催します。廃墟は文明の終着点ではなく自由の出発点です。廃墟的空間に響く人と機械が共創する電子音は都市の記憶と未来を交差させます。

Atsushi Tadokoro, a creative coder active on the international stage, including venues such as Ars Electronica in Linz, will lead a program featuring audio-visual performances and live performances by invited musicians from Japan and abroad. The project is supported by BUFFALO, a leading Japanese manufacturer of wireless routers and external hard drives. The venue will be a long-vacant building on Ginza Street nicknamed by the locals the “Guchokipa Building” after the children’s game “Rock, Scissors, Paper.” By installing electronic music and immersive art into the redevelopment district, the project seeks to revive the club culture that once thrived in this neighborhood.

‘Algorave,’ a neologism that combines ‘algorithm’ and ‘rave,’ refers to a cutting-edge music scene in which electronic- and computer-based music is performed using algorithms written by musicians in real time. Algorave Maebashi, Maebashi’s first Algorave, is being curated by creative coder Atsushi Tadokoro. The venue is the Guchokipa Club, the biennale’s official clubhouse. It is temporarily set up in the semi-abandoned building by Tadokoro and BUFFALO, a producer of computer peripherals. Instead of a civlizational ending point, this architectural ruin is a launching point for freedom. Within the electronic sounds resonating within a ruin-like space, co-created by humans and machines, the city’s memories and future converge, making way for the ‘sprouting’ of new possibilities.
