アーツ前橋の3階にあるミニシアター「前橋シネマハウス」のシアターゼロ（110座席）をトーク会場に、前橋国際芸術祭2026の参加アーティストが自身の出展作品やプロジェクトについて語る３つのプログラム。制作の背景にある経緯や物語をアーティストの生の声で聞くことができる貴重な機会です。

Three talks featuring artists participating in Maebashi Biennale 2026 will be held at Theater Zero, a 110-seat venue that is part of Maebashi Cinema House, a mini-theater located on the third floor of Arts Maebashi. These sessions offer a rare opportunity to hear the artists speak in person about their exhibited works and projects, as well as the background and stories behind their creations.

アレクサ・クミコ・ハタナカ（アーティスト）× 和田彩花（ミュージシャン、文筆家）

ともに双極症障害やうつ病を抱えてきたことを公表し、その経験を創作活動の重要な基盤としてアートや音楽表現に昇華させてきたアレクサ・クミコ・ハタナカと和田彩花。本トークでは互いの経験や前橋での活動をシェアしつつ、当事者の視点からメンタルヘルスとアートの関係について掘り下げていきます。

Art, Mental Health, and Us
Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka (Artist) × Ayaka Wada (Musician, Writer)

As artists who have publicly shared personal stories of living with bipolar disorder and depression, Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka and Ayaka Wade have channeled their experiences into artistic and musical expression, turning them into a vital source for creative work. In this talk, they speak of their respective journeys and activities in Maebashi and explore the relationship between mental health and art from the standpoint of their own lived experience.

アレクサ・クミコ・ハタナカ
アーティスト。1988年カナダ・トロント生まれ。日系カナダ人かつクィア・アーティストであり、双極性障害とともに生きる経験が作品制作の基盤となる。主に紙を用い、版画、インクドローイング、草木染めを縫製と組み合わせ、伝統的な紙の技法と素材を現代的に再解釈する。これらはハタナカの彫刻、大規模な版画インスタレーション、着用可能な彫刻立体作品として現れ、気候変動や精神的健康、生存といった問いに応答する。風景や魚、水域のモチーフは苦しみやしなやかさ、つながり、喜びを語る。個人および共同制作の作品は、アーモリー・ショー（アメリカ）、オンタリオ美術館、大英博物館、トロント・ビエンナーレなどで展示された。その他、コレクションとしてカナダ国立美術館（カナダ）、滋賀県立美術館（日本）、マテリアル・アート・アンド・デザイン博物館（アメリカ）に収蔵。

和田彩花
群馬県高崎市出身。アイドル。2019年ハロー！プロジェクト、アンジュルムを卒業。アイドルグループでの活動経験を通して、フェミニズム、ジェンダーの視点からアイドルについて、アイドルの労働問題について発信する。音楽：オルタナポップバンド「和田彩花とオムニバス」、ダブ・アンビエンスのアブストラクトバンド「LOLOET（ロロエ）」にて作詞、歌、朗読等を担当する。美術：実践女子大学大学院博士前期課程美術史学修了、美術館や展覧会について執筆、メディア出演する。

Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka
Artist. Born in 1988 in Toronto, Canada, Alexa Kumiko Hatanaka is a Japanese-Canadian queer artist whose experience living with bipolar forms the foundation of her practice. Working primarily with paper, she combines printmaking, ink drawing, natural dyeing, and sewing to contemporize traditional paper techniques and materials. These take shape as sculpture, large-scale print installations, and wearable sculptures that respond to questions of climate change, mental health, and survival. Motifs of landscapes, fish, and bodies of water speak to experiences of struggle, resilience, connection, and joy. Her individual and collaborative works have been exhibited at The Armory Show, United States, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the British Museum, and the Toronto Biennial of Art. Her works are part of the permanent collections at The National Gallery of Canada, Canada; The Shiga Prefecture Museum, Japan; The Material Art and Design Museum, United States.

Ayaka Wada
Born in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Ayaka Wada is an idol who graduated from the group ANGERME (Hello! Project) in 2019. Drawing on her experience, she speaks publicly about idols and issues related to labor conditions in the idol industry from feminist and gender perspectives. In the area of music, she writes lyrics, sings, and does recitation for the alternative pop band Ayaka Wada and Omnibus, and for the dub-ambient abstract band LOLOET. In the area of visual arts, as a recipient of an MA in art history at Jissen Women’s University, she writes about museums and exhibitions and appears in various media.

「アジールとしての赤城山」
石川直樹（写真家）× 石倉敏明（芸術人類学者）

前橋国際芸術祭2026で石川は日本スキー界の草分け・猪谷六合雄の足跡を、石倉は山の神「十二様（じゅうにさま）」の信仰を辿って赤城山に分け入り、それぞれ新作を制作・発表しました。中世から山岳信仰や武士団の拠点として栄え、国定忠治、暁の家、徳川埋蔵金伝説など、そのアジール性（権力者の手が及ばない聖域・避難所・自由領域）で、今も昔も人々を惹きつける赤城山の魅力に、人類学の知見とアートを融合させる二人が迫る、スペシャル対談。

Mount Akagi as “Asyl”
Naoki Ishikawa (Photographer) × Toshiaki Ishikura (Anthropologist of Art)

For Maebashi Biennale 2026, Ishikawa traced the footsteps of the pioneering Japanese skier Kunio Igaya, while Ishikura investigated the beliefs associated with the mountain deity Junisama. They later created and presented new works based on their respective journeys. From the medieval period onward, Mount Akagi has thrived as a base for mountain worshipers and warrior clans. Today, it continues to captivate people as a place of ‘asyl,’ the German word for a space beyond the reach of authority, a sanctuary or zone of freedom. This character is highlighted in stories about Kunisada Chuji, the Japanese “Robin Hood”; the famous sanctuary Akatsuki no Ie; and the legend of buried treasure from the Tokugawa Shogunate. In this special dialogue, the two speakers fuse anthropological insight with art to examine the timeless appeal of Mount Akagi.

石川直樹
写真家。1977年東京都生まれ。東京芸術大学大学院美術研究科博士後期課程修了。辺境から都市まであらゆる場所を旅しながら、作品を発表し続けている。2008年『NEW DIMENSION』（赤々舎）、『POLAR』（リトルモア）により日本写真協会賞新人賞、講談社出版文化賞。2011年『CORONA』（青土社）により土門拳賞。2020年『EVEREST』（CCCメディアハウス）、『まれびと』（小学館）により日本写真協会賞作家賞。2023年東川賞特別作家賞を受賞した。著書に、開高健ノンフィクション賞を受賞した『最後の冒険家』（集英社）ほか多数。最新刊に『シシャパンマ』（平凡社）、『最後の山』（新潮社）などがある。

石倉敏明
秋田公立美術大学美術学部アーツ＆ルーツ専攻准教授。インド各地や日本の東北地方などで聖者や山岳信仰、神話調査を重ね、環太平洋圏における比較神話学の研究を進めるとともに、多様なアーティストと旅やフィールドワークをともにしながら、アーティストの創造と自身の神話研究を交差させている。主な展覧会に第58回ヴェネチア・ビエンナーレ国際美術展日本館展示「Cosmo-Eggs｜宇宙の卵」（2019年）など。

Naoki Ishikawa
Photographer. Born in Tokyo in 1977, Naoki Ishikawa received a Ph.D from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. He travels to all kinds of places—from remote regions to major cities—and is continuously presenting new photographic work. In 2008, he received the Newcomer’s Award from the Japan Photographic Society and the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award for his books NEW DIMENSION (Akaaka Art Publishing) and POLAR (Little More). In 2011, he won the Domon Ken Award for CORONA (Seidosha). In 2020, he received the Japan Photographic Society’s Distinguished Photographer Award for EVEREST (CCC Media House) and Marebito (Shogakukan). In 2023, he was presented with the Higashikawa Special Photographer Award. His many books include The Last Adventurer (Shueisha), which won the Kaiko Takeshi Nonfiction Award. His recent publications include Shishapangma (Heibonsha) and The Last Mountain (Shinchosha).

Toshiaki Ishikura (Art Anthropologist)
Associate Professor in the Arts & Roots Program at Akita University of Art, Toshiaki Ishikura has conducted extensive research on saints, mountain worship, and mythology in regions across India and in northeastern Japan, and has pursued comparative mythology studies focusing on the Pacific Rim. He also travels and conducts fieldwork with a wide range of artists, to create opportunities for artistic practices to intersect with his own mythological research. His major exhibitions include the Japan Pavilion presentation Cosmo-Eggs at the 58th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale (2019).

「ぼくらの福祉とアートの未来」
松田文登（へラルボニー代表取締役Co-CEO）× 岡部太郎（たんぽぽの家 理事長）

ともに障がいのある人のアート表現を社会に発信する先駆的な存在でありながら、市場を開拓する企業と、市民運動の地盤から文化を耕す福祉団体という異なる現場から〈福祉とアート〉を牽引している「へラルボニー」の松田文登と「たんぽぽの家」の岡部太郎。世界障害者週間に地域ケアの未来を担うオピニオンリーダーの公開対談が前橋で実現。

The Future of Welfare and Art for All of Us
Fumito Matsuda (Co CEO, HERALBONY) × Taro Okabe (Director, Tanpopo no Ie)

For this dialog, we invited two pioneers in promoting the artistic expression of people with disabilities in the wider world and are leading the way in the intersection of welfare and art from their respective fields: Fumito Matsuda of HERALBONY, a company pioneering new markets, and Taro Okabe of Tanpopo no Ie, a welfare organization cultivating culture from the ground up through civic movements. This public dialogue between these opinion leaders shaping the future of community care will take place in Maebashi during the Week for Persons with Disabilities.
