前橋映像祭は2010年に「弁天通り映像祭」として始まった公募型の映像祭です。これまで、群馬県・前橋市を会場に、映画、ドキュメンタリー、ビデオ・アート作品、ライブ・パフォーマンス作品、音響作品など、さまざまな形態の作品が集まり、映画監督やアーティスト、ミュージシャンをはじめ、たくさんの人々が参加してきました。その特徴は、前橋という「場所性」にこだわりながら、一般の商業的な映画館や美術館、ギャラリーでは上映や上演が難しい領域横断的で個性的な映像作品を、みんなで一緒に鑑賞し、じっくりと密度の高い議論を行うというかたちをとってきたところです。
16年目の前橋映像祭は前橋国際芸術祭2026の地域協働プログラムとして開催されます。

About Maebashi Media Festival
The Maebashi Media Festival began in 2010 as the Benten Street Film Festival, screening films from an open call for entries. The venue has until now been the Maebashi city in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. And it has brought together various forms of film, documentary, video art, live performance and sound works, and has been visited by many people including film directors, artists and musicians. What we think is unique about us is that we are committed to the ‘locality’ of Maebashi, and we take our time enjoying and discussing together in depth the interdisciplinary and unique works that are difficult to show or perform in commercial cinemas, museums and galleries.
The 16th Maebashi Film Festival will be held as part of the Maebashi International Arts Festival 2026 Regional Collaboration Program.
