前橋市中心市街地に拠点を構えるBentena SHOPと、群馬と東京を拠点に活動する建築設計事務所SNARK Inc.による《SITE PORTAL（サイトポータル）》は、まちの“普段の顔”や“使い方”を大胆に変容させる象徴的な入口〈PORTAL〉を、前橋各地にパラサイト的に出現させるプロジェクト。路地や公園、空き地、空き家など日常的な空間に設置された入口をくぐることで、その場所の機能や用途が変化し、都市が拡張されていくような体験を創出します。

OPEN STUDIO ”From this side to that side”は、前橋市出身の現代美術作家・村田峰紀のアトリエが入る弁天通りのビル１棟を、１階から４階まで使うインスタレーションです。普段は立ち入れないアーティストの創作空間を一時的に開きます。

As a collaboration between Bentena SHOP based in Maebashi’s central district, and SNARK Inc., an architectural office based and active in Gunma and Tokyo, presents SITE PORTAL is a project to create symbolic “portals” that dramatically alter the city’s everyday look and use. Installed parasitically to everyday structures in alleyways, parks, vacant lots, and empty houses throughout Maebashi, these portals invite visitors to step through and experience a shift in the function or use of the space, making it feel as if the city is expanding. 

OPEN STUDIO “From this side to that side” is an installation spanning all four floors of a building on Benten-dori that houses the studio of Maebashi-born contemporary artist Mineki Murata. The project temporarily opens the artist’s creative space, which is normally not accessible to the public.

村田峰紀 ステートメント
私はパフォーマンスアーティストです。人前に出て身体表現を見せるだけでなく、弁天通りにある「REBONES MAEBASHI」の2階をスタジオとして美術作品の制作を行っています。普段は1階のカフェ部分しか見えていませんが、建物自体は4階建てです。2017年からこの場所で制作を続けており、約10年分の熱量が蓄積されていると感じています。今回が初めてのオープンスタジオとなります。当日はビル一棟を開放し、入り口から4階の屋上まで通り抜けていただきます。ビル全体をスタジオとして使い、身体的な体感が味わえる場を提供します。

村田 峰紀 Mineki Murata
1979年群馬県生まれ。前橋市在住。2005年、多摩美術大学美術学部彫刻学科卒業。 ドローイングやパフォーマンスを軸に、「かく」という行為の語源に内在する4つの意味 ー「書く（意識）」「描く（結果）」 「掻く（行為）」「欠く（潜在）」を往還しながら制作を展開する。身体感覚を極限まで研ぎ澄まし、その間に立ち現れる不自由な対象や状況と真正面から向き合い、泥臭くもがき続けることで、固定化された関係性や認識を少しずつ解きほぐしていく。 主な個展に、「BAR」void+（東京、2026年）「トータス」Art Center Ongoing（東京、2025年）、「a mirror ofyourself」 Shop rin art association（群馬、2025年）、「Position 」Second 2.（東京、2024年）などが挙げられる。

Artist’s Statement
I am a performance artist.In addition to presenting physical performances in front of an audience, I create artworks in my studio on the second floor of “REBONES MAEBASHI” on Benten-dori Street. Usually, only the cafe on the first floor is visible to visitors, but the building itself has four floors. I have been working here since 2017, and I feel that nearly ten years of creative energy have accumulated in this space.This will be my first open studio. The entire building will be opened to visitors, who will be invited to move through the space from the entrance all the way up to the rooftop on the fourth floor. Using the entire building as a studio, I will create a space that offers visitors a physical experience.

Mineki Murata
Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1979, Mineki Murata lives and works in Maebashi. He graduated from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Art and Design, Tama Art University, in 2005. Working primarily through drawing and performance, Murata develops his practice by moving between four meanings embedded in the Japanese verb ‘kaku’: ‘to write’ (consciousness), ‘to draw’ (result), ‘to scratch’ (action), and ‘to lack’ (potential). By sharpening his physical senses to their limits, he confronts restrictive objects and situations that emerge in the process. Through a persistent and visceral struggle with these conditions, he gradually loosens fixed relationships and perceptions. Selected solo exhibitions include “BAR,” void+, Tokyo (2026); “Tortoise,” Art Center Ongoing, Tokyo (2025); “a mirror of yourself,” Shop rin art association, Gunma (2025); “Position,” Second 2., Tokyo (2024).
