“STREET FURNITURE EXHIBITION 2026 (SFE2026),” one of our community art programs, is an urbanism initiative set along the Hirose River where participants bring their own handmade street furniture to “hack the city together and cultivate new perspectives on the urban landscape.”
On Thursday, October 1, we held the “SFE2026 Night Walk.” This walking event allowed participants to explore the city at night while touring the various pieces of street furniture installed throughout the downtown area. Participants enjoyed their autumn evening stroll, chatting about the works and even sitting on them.
On Sunday, October 4, we held the “Closing Talk & Awards Ceremony.” As we looked back on this year’s SFE, the winning works for each award—including the Guest Judge’s Individual Award, the Public Vote Award, and the Downtown Shop Award—were announced.
You can view the winning works not only at their actual exhibition locations but also on the official SFE Instagram account. Be sure to check them out!

Additionally, starting October 9, the “STREET FURNITURE EXHIBITION 2026” has moved to new locations along Chuo-dori Shopping Street, with works now on display at various spots (KAZE MACHI PARC, Chuo-dori Pocket Park, and the downtown bike parking lot).
As you stroll through the city, be sure to look for the street furniture installed at each of these locations.
