最果タヒさん＋佐々木俊さんの作品制作に向けて、前橋・オリオン通りに残されていた看板の回収が行われました。
前橋の中心市街地の一角にあるオリオン通り。現在はシャッターの下りた店舗も多く、通りには、すでに閉店したお店の看板が残されています。今回の作品では、そうした「街に残されたもの」に新たな意味を与え、言葉のパブリックアートとして生まれ変わらせます。詩人・最果タヒさんは、2024年に『恋と誤解された夕焼け』で第32回萩原朔太郎賞を受賞。翌2025年には、前橋文学館で受賞記念展が開催され、大きな注目を集めました。第一回前橋国際芸術祭2026では、前橋と最果さんのこれまでのつながりをさらに発展させ、グラフィックデザイナー・佐々木俊さんとともに、オリオン通りに「水と緑と詩のまち」を象徴する言葉のパブリックアートを制作・設置します。
街の風景として長くそこにあった看板が、どんな言葉と出会い、どんな作品へと変わっていくのか。これからの制作の進展も、ぜひお楽しみに。

The signs that will be used in the upcoming work by Tahi Saihate and Shun Sasaki have been collected from Orion Street in central Maebashi.
Orion Street is one of the areas in central Maebashi where many shuttered storefronts can now be seen. Hanging along the street are signs from shops that have long since closed. For this work, these remnants of the city will be given new meaning and transformed into a public artwork centered around words. Poet Tahi Saihate received the 32nd Hagiwara Sakutaro Prize in 2024 for her poetry collection Koi to Gokai Sareta Yuyake (The Sunset Mistaken for Love). The following year, the Maebashi Literature Museum held an exhibition commemorating the award, which drew considerable attention. For the 1st Maebashi Biennale 2026, the ongoing relationship between Maebashi and Saihate will be further developed through a collaboration with graphic designer Shun Sasaki. Together, they will create and install a public artwork of words on Orion Street, inspired by Maebashi’s identity as “a city of water, greenery, and poetry.”
What kinds of words will these signs encounter, and how will these familiar pieces of the city’s landscape transform into a new work of art?
